  i have already gotten an email from someone stating that their gift arrived safely in the mail.

  i thought it would be nice to start a thread where we can post what we got (for those nosey like me who want to know!

  ) and a thank you.. as for me, i haven't even begun yet!

  first, thanks for the dozens of you who sent me notes of encouragement.

  i've tried to answer as many as i could but i was overwhelmed by your kind thoughts.. my suicidal thoughts have disappeared and have been gone for the past 2 weeks.

  i see my therapist again next week.

  life is tough regardless of whether we were ever jws.

  my own life has taken some twists and turns i did not expect or like ... and i have to focus all my attention now on getting my badly needed open-heart surgery or face death in about six months ... so in the next couple of days, i am making the last of three posts for a while ... then all my efforts will be aimed at getting better, and facing some issues in my life and making the best decisions possible for me and my family.

  i decided to limit many activities because i tend to do too much and neglect some things that i should not ... this is not a good-bye post, but more of a long vacation post.

  Amazing, please take care and keep in touch with someone here who can keep us updated on your progress. I will miss you because I spent a whole weekend reading your departure from the witnesses before I started on this board. I couldn't stop reading. You have a way with words, dear sir.   Happyman, I often wondered the same thing. The witnesses say "The truth shall set you free". Maybe it is the internet that will set you free. Eyes being opened to see the light, Maybe it is the internet? Makes one think.

  Dad is gone

  my dad passed away at the hospital today after a lengthy illness.

  he was 84 years old.

  some of the folks here have known for awhile that he had been ill, and they have been very supportive.

  I'm addicted, but I don't post much. I read most all posts. I'm just not a fast typer (and thats with all ten) so it takes me forever to get anything out. This is the first place I come in the morning and the last place at night.

  i have been lurking around here for a little while and have read just about all the folders in mostly the "friends" category and seems like if i were to tell my story it would be ...yawn....boring.

  i have read and almost cried (okay, so, i did really cry)during and after reading some of the stories of the your lives as jw's...i have laughed at most of the stories about stuff that goes on in the kh's (been there....and could relate or at least imagine).

  then i think about my own pathetic entrance, exit, entrance, exit from the organization and it (mine) seems so hum-drum.

  Welcome aboard Lassie,

  Glad you decided to pop in and let us know you are here. I haven't told my story yet, I think its boring. One of these days though. Keep posting and enjoy.

  I'm Northern KY and it's really early.

  Edited to add: I also got baptized in 73 at 17 (the push was on) and married in 74 at 18. Had to get baptized so I could get married in the KH. I wasn't ready to.
